Sabres blogging has gone worst to first. Thanks Michael for a solid read.
Would rather take goalies in the later rounds...seems they are too unpredictable in their development, but interesting player. I feel that outside the 1st half of the 1st round myself and maybe others don't know too many names and possibilities. Thanks for some insight

Regarding this whole moving into the first round thing.

The Bills publicly announced in 2013 that they would like to move down in the draft.
It happened.

The Bills publicly announced in 2014 that they would like to move up in the draft.
It happened.

Now that Tim has been publicly announcing for a solid month now that he'd like to move up in the draft.
I trust that he'll make it happen, one way or the other. He's not a wishy washy kinda guy. You know what he wants the second he brings up a topic. I'd wager 100 bucks he manages to move up, if gambling was legal on this site.

I just don't think a lot of GMs blow hot air. He said he doesn't want to trade the 2nd overall unless it's vast overpayment. I trust that comes to fruition. He wants (not "would like to") to move back into the first round. The difference between him and Tallon is that Tallon is fielding offers but has not said "I want to trade the 1st". Timmy ain't no BSer. It's gonna happen.

I really would be happy to see our top 9 to start next year look like..

Hodge - Ennis - Staff
Moulson - Reinhart -Stewart
Girgensons - Mitchell - Larsson/Foligno/Conachar

I'm really not sure on who plays what wing but am pretty sure that Hodge, Staff, Moulson, and Stewart all prefer RW.

Umm, wrong sport... But on a side note...

The GM of the GutterBallGang of the Western Midwest Bowling League is clamoring for a draft day trade too!

John Scott had 19 points in 125 college games. Smith should be a drastic improvement. Besides size, I wouldn't compare the two.

Nice blog new guy...

So Regehr only played 8 games in the entire LAK's longest NHL playoffs in history run...

Thanks for pointing that out, but a GM is a GM is a GM. Doesn't matter what sport.

Thanks for distorting my post. Also, we should trade our whole team for ROR.

I think they send Reinhart back , sign a free agent for 3c and move Girgensons up to 2C . Just to help reach cap floor . I do see Girgensons being 3C in the future and Reinhart as 2C when we are done here

As hot as that sounds, where is Ennis (and Hodgson) in this? If traded, for what besides anyone from COL.

Edit - Possibly traded in 3 years when our hopefully 2015 top line center pick has matured to the NHL

Do they need Glue to dip their celery in ? I used to like dipping my celery in Cheez whiz as a kid.

It's already been said that Girgensons will be in the middle. They are committed to him being a center. That's where they want him to continue to develop. Plus, Mitchell better not be on the 3rd line. He's a 4th liner at best.

I think they are moved to the wing . Where Hodgson has been making a nice adjustment to already. I could see Reinhart on the wing for his first few years and Ennis staying at center till he is ready.

I don't see Ennis or Hodge traded at this point.. Hodge got a new big deal and Ennis is probably going to get a 4yr/16-20M type deal out of this.

Unless another contract is coming back that is around 5M per year like E. Kane.

What is really going to make this a hard process is what happens when Grigorenko finally develops...

Where does he fit in at center...

McDavid, Reinhart, Grigo, Girgensons, Ennis, Hodge, and Larsson.

I'll go back to a Murray quote, of sorts.

To trade well, you need to draft well.

Drafted well?? Check.

Just poking some fun.

Dude.. Seriously.. Of course Tim Murray is going to move up, and its not exactly some calculated long shot.

The Sabres own the very first pick in Rd.2, package that with anything, and we're back in Rd.1. If TM wants it bad enough, the wherewithal is there.
